Ultra-Light and Super Flexible: Why Silhouette Frames are one of my favourites

I’d like to show you just how flexible rimless spectacles can be- in more ways than one!
If you’re already a fan of rimless glasses, there’s a high chance you’re familiar with Silhouette, an Austrian eyewear brand with style and comfort at it’s heart. If you’ve ever wished that your glasses were invisible, a new rimless frame from Silhouette might just be the solution. With a vast array of designs with ultra-fine features available, you don’t have to worry that your spectacles are the thing people notice about you first.
But I bet you didn’t know that you can make a statement with rimless too!
A few years ago I put this theory to the test- I wanted a fun pair of heart-shaped spectacles and I just couldn’t find any. That’s when I had to think outside of the box- if I couldn’t find any, I’d have to make my own. Rimless frames are perfect to be creative with; not only can you mix and match any Silhouette model and colour, you can choose what size and what shape you desire for your lenses. We keep a big selection of Silhouette’s lens shapes in practice so that you can try them out for yourself before you buy. You can add fun tints and even a Color Groove edge to Silhouette lenses, to make a truly unique (and comfortable!) pair of glasses.
How I made my fun spectacles!
Some of our patients may remember my unique heart-shaped glasses, proving that rimless truly is the best option for customisable glasses. What I was looking for wasn’t standard, so with a bit of effort I found a lab that could glaze my prescription to a heart shape lens. I could specify exactly where on the lens I wanted the drill holes to be, so that I knew the lenses sat in the right place on my face. I chose from 3 different Silhouette bridge sizes in the Momentum model, and had a hard time choosing from the gorgeous colours available. To make the glasses really stand out, I then opted for a pale blue tint on the lenses to match the frame.

The Purist range is a top choice for those that want a light and invisible look, but who aren’t so keen on the flexible nature of a lot of rimless spectacles.
