Prescription swimming goggles

Prescription swimming goggles are just as they sound – goggles with a lens made to your prescription, so you can swim with vision!

How to see well in the water

Swimming pools can be a daunting place to be if you cannot see very well without your glasses on.

For swimming to be an enjoyable experience, good eyesight is essential. Swimmers with poor vision face additional challenges in the pool and miss out on the experience of being able to see well underwater. Simple things, like watching the clock or recognising faces across the pool, can make swimming without the security of your glasses or contact lenses frustrating and inconvenient.

Luckily, there is a very simple solution. Prescription swimming goggles are just as they sound – goggles with a lens made to your prescription, so you can swim with vision!  And if you already have a prescription you don’t even need an eye test; just bring your prescription to us and  and we’ll do the rest.

Can I swim with contact lenses in?

We advise against wearing contact lenses when swimming.

Water can contain harmful bacteria, even in the cleanest of swimming pools. When wearing contact lenses, your eye is unable to naturally remove this bacteria from your eye, therefore swimming whilst wearing contact lenses significantly increases the risk of getting a serious eye infection.

Prescription swimming goggles provide a safe, practical solution to swimming without contact lenses or glasses.

Our best-sphere prescription swimming goggles start at just £35 a pair, making them an affordable solution for both adults and children. There’s no need for an eye test if you already have an in-date prescription.

Swimming goggles for astigmatism

If you have a prescription with a large amount of astigmatism (indicated by cylindrical (CYL) correction on your prescription) we can provide a bespoke pair of swimming goggles to include your astigmatism correction up to +/- 6.00 DC, enabling you to see perfectly in the water. These are a fully bespoke product and as such our Dispensing Opticians must take full measurements in person, so please call us on 01273 843946 to arrange an appointment should you wish to view this range of swimming goggle. Prices start from £120.00 for the iRx range.

Prescription swimming goggles for children

Prescription goggles for children

For smaller splashers, child-size prescription swimming goggles are available in a variety of appealing colours.

Children who wear prescription goggles for swimming lessons are likely to feel safer, helping them to learn to swim with more confidence and progress quicker.

As with our adult swimming goggles, there’s no need for an eye test if you already have your child’s most recent prescription, just bring it in and we’ll do the rest. To keep our young patients as safe as possible, swimming goggles for children cannot be supplied online, so please call us or book online to see one of our registered Dispensing Opticians. They’ll be able to check the fit and take the required measurements for all children’s eyewear.
